This very small space needed to look smart and modern to fit with the new patio doors and interior, whilst remaining appropriate for a Victorian Cambridge town property. Two shades of granite were used here to add detail and a formal structure to this rather awkward space. The existing fences were replaced with double slatted screening to neatly tie in the nice existing wall with a road boundary. Top-worked false acacia trees (Robinia pseudoacacia Umbraculifera) were used to add interest at the upper level, without too much light or space being blocked out below.
