The clients had purchased the field adjacent to the garden of their cosy cottage and the views across the landscape are unbroken. This design is all about the sight lines across the garden and out to the flat terrain. The uninspiring extension on this cottage was transformed with the addition of a large oak pergola and patio, extending the living space dramatically. The addition of a detachable simple canopy provides shade when needed and a sunken patio the much needed shelter from the prevailing wind. A large pond lies out to the landscape, work is still in progress here. This garden was designed in collaboration with Richard Arnott.
